After over 50 years in the fabric business starting at Hancock Fabrics and holding executive positions at Cloth World, JoAnn and House of Fabrics I decided to retire. I flunked retirement. So, over 20 years ago with the help of another industry executive and the support of my wife, I founded Richtex Fabrics selling drapery and upholstery fabrics and related items directly to the consumer. I had seen the chain stores ignore their customers and focus on Return On Investment.
Today not even one of the chain stores mentioned above is still in business mostly because they lost sight of their customers. We made a commitment to always put our customers First! We contend that women are the most astute shoppers in the world. So, if you assume you can fool a customer by pricing merchandise up just to advertise a large per cent off, you’re wrong. About 15 years ago we decided to expand our custom drapery business. With our expansion into the internet, we are now selling our beautiful custom drapery made in and sold all over the United States. We committed early on that our fine custom drapes don’t necessarily have to be expensive.
